How AVERAGE and MAX and MIN works

  • How do AVERAGE, MAX and MIN work?

    Just like SUM: the function name, then a range in brackets.

  • What does each one give?

    • =AVERAGE(B2:B8) adds the numbers up and divides by how many there are.
    • =MAX(B2:B8) gives the highest number.
    • =MIN(B2:B8) gives the lowest number.

  • What about blank cells and text?

    They are ignored, so a missing score doesn't drag the average down.
